-Breaking into styling-

Q. What or who inspired you to get into styling ?

A“My passion for styling stems from a deep appreciation for storytelling through fashion. I was fascinated by how clothing shapes perception and identity.

Over time, I immersed myself in the industry—experimenting, learning, and collaborating—to develop my unique approach to styling.

I draw inspiration from everyday people, music, art, and African street culture. Travel also shapes my perspective—seeing how different regions interpret fashion fuels my creativity. My biggest inspiration comes from continuously learning and adapting.”

A. “Research and conceptualisation are always my starting points. I create mood boards, direct, consult, source pieces, and refine looks to align with the story I want to tell. Collaboration with photographers, designers, and models is essential to bringing the vision to life.”

Q. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced as an up-and-coming stylist in South Africa—and how do you navigate them ?

A. “Breaking into established spaces and accessing resources can be challenging. I navigate this by networking, collaborating, and leveraging digital platforms to showcase my work. Building strong relationships with brands and creatives has been key to gaining recognition.”
